Sprouting Interest in Doing "Green Business"

Whether you realize it or not, businesses all over the country are doing more and more to go green. Many businesses exist for that reason alone; to help other businesses and families to become more envirnomentally responsible. Look it up - corporations are doing whatever they can to become more eco-friendly, and it's not because they are just dying to save the earth.

You simply make more green by going green.

Besides the tax benefits available for going green, companies who instate green initiatives open themselves up to an intensely committed and, more importantly, LOYAL market - the "supergreens", as I like to call them. People who live and die for saving the earth. Whether you agree with them on the cause of global warming or the importance of compost, one thing is certain - the have money and they only want to spend it with those who sympathize with their cause.

So where do you and I fit in?

We fit in because we have the luxury of foresight. The Black community at large is not very green, but it stands to be within the next few years. The State of Michigan is going through a complete economic overhaul that stands to shift the workforce concentration from automotive to ecological industries. This means that the culture of the state will evolve; just as Detroiters connected with cars, they will begin to connect with alternative energy and environmental protection. If environmental protection is putting food on your table, believe me, you'll connect with it!

This is happening across the country. Green collar jobs are popping up all over the place. Those families will want to shop with vendors who support that lifestyle.

Begin "greenifying" your business now - take steps to use eco-friendly products in your operations and cut down on waste. Get into conservation and learn about sustainability. I promise you that you will emerge as a leader in your industry when you learn how to appeal to this niche.
