Due to the Jersey City Water Main Break, Residents and businesses have been advised to boil the water while work crews tend to the emergency. They have asked because it is expected to get rid of something. What does boiling water get rid of?
This is just to name a few things boiling water gets rid of. But does it really? Boiling water will certainly cook the Parasites, Bateria, Virses and the Cryptosporidium but it does not remove them. Once the water has been boiled, debris, dead cells and toxin excreted by these organisms are left behind.
Now, on the surface it sound like good news to say, "boil your water." Yes it will only kill the living things in the water. But again the bad news is the toxin left from the bugs will remain and cause harm. The best thing you can really do with any from of tap water and espcially the Jersey city water main break is to filter your water with a carbon block water filter.
