Many may not know that my husband is a National Park Ranger and works at the Statue of Liberty . He narrates alot of the tours and has had newspaper interviews and even a cameo appearance on "The Apprentice" 2 years ago When you visit, ask for Ranger Charles Walker.
By the way he was very impressed with the Lady Liberty replica at our convention. He wrote a poem some years ago and gave me permission to share it here. It goes along with the Lady Liberty Unveiling (click on the 2008 National Convention), that we saw. He also had the pleasure of meeting the real Ray Charles at one of their Ellis Island events and said that this Ray Charles impersonator in the video did a fantastic Job!
The theme of the Convention was centered around Freedom and Liberty. Freedom from financial bondage, freedom from stress, Liberty to travel the world.
I present to you:
The Lady Calls
by Ranger Charles A. Walker (Copyrighted) Standing 151 feet tall and facing toward the sea is a woman holding a torch. Her features are plain at best, but to millions of people around the world its a privilege to view her face in person. Standing in New York harbor facing toward the sea, in one hand rising a torch over her head for all the world to see, In the other hand there is a Keystone that is dated July 4, 1776. Standing in New York harbor facing towards the sea, washed in green, wearing a toga and sandals. On her head is a crown that has seven points, in the crown there are 25 gemstones of the world.
Standing in New York facing towards the sea, proudly standing on the chain with a broken shackle that the artists calls "Tyranny" Liberty's Keystone is made from things we cannot really see, things called Freedom, Law and Justice. If these things are removed can one have Liberty? Standing in New York harbor facing towards the sea, she has never spoken a word. However, there are millions of people who will tell that she calls them by name.
She speaks with symbols that are more powerful than the spoken word. Standing in New York harbor facing toward the sea, This Roman Goddess has been called by many names. Some have called her "Mother of Exiles", Others "Miss Liberty" I like what the artist named her. He named her "Liberty Enlightening the World". Many will look at her but few will see the message that "The Lady" brings...A Call to Liberty! The toga was worn by the powerful of Rome, Sandals worn only by the free The seven points for the seven seas where man is found a space for the twenty-five gemstones of the world. Jade is for Asia, Opal is for Austraila, These spaces are in the crown whever these stones are fond the message is for the people of that area. The torch holds the flame, and the flame is Freedom itself. The message that few will see? Liberty is no longer the cry of a slave...but calling of all men and all men shall be free! ********************************************** GailTravel can show You how you can enjoy financial freedom by having your own online travel business.
