 As I ready my daily news online many people are asking, "Will Economic Stimulus Plan Work?" This is a tough question because there are so many variables.
What I find interesting is people are discussing how much will be spent and where the money will be spent without really taking a serious look at what got us here.
In my opinion, we need to focus on slowing down and preventing foreclosures.
Second, we need to work on building up the consumer confidence. This will not happen if many see jobs being lost month-after-month. They will continue to save instead of spending.
This is where I differ from many in that I want the US people to save money. Yet, I desire for them to spend money to purchase the items they need. Of course, this is wishful thinking because most people buy more of what they want than what they need.
At the end of the day, if the Economic Stimulus Plan does not address the core issue it will be a waste of money.
Job creation is definitely important but I am curious to see which industries will get the most money and how it will be dispersed to the appropriate agencies.
To be honest, this stimulus plan is the first step of many and will not solve all of the problems. If more people would recognize that and prepare themselves for the long haul the US could come out of this crisis within 2-years. Otherwise, we may be stuck in a recession for 5-years or more.
I am praying that is not the case but it is a strong possibility. Let's see what happens over the next 2-years with the Economic Stimulus Plan.
